MBBS Admission in India | Vidyaxcel Education Consultant

MBBS Admission Procedure in India starts with the national level of examinations called NEET and JIPMER. These two exams are the only way to get MBBS Admission in India.
NEET Exam is described as National Eligibility cum Entrance Test which facilitates admission to all government and private medical and dental colleges in India except JIPMER, as this exam has the separate entrance examination authority.
From 2020 AIIMS accept NEET UG for MBBS admission. Previously it was done through AIIMS Exams.
A merit list prepares on the basis of the score secured by the candidate in the entrance examination. Selection process starts on the basis of the merit list. The selected candidates will be invited for the counselling process as per the ranks on the merit list.

NEET 2023-24 Eligibility Criteria

Age Criteria

The minimum age limit is 17 years as of December 31, of the year of admission or students belonging to all the categories. There is no clause on the upper age limit of candidates willing to appear for NEET.As per the Letter dated 09 March 2023, received from National Medical Commission, Under Graduate Medical Education Board pertaining to the upper age limit, that there should be no upper age limit as decided in the fourth NMC meeting held on 21 October 2022.

Aggregate Marks

General Category – 50% (Physically Handicapped, PH – 45%) OBC/SC/ST – 40% (PH – 40%)
Note: The marks scored for Math would not be taken into consideration.

Number of Subjects

There will be a total of 3 subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology.

Year of Passing

Candidates who are appearing for their board exams in the year of admission – Eligible Candidates who have appeared for Class 12 exam and appearing for an improvement exam – Eligible Students who have appeared for the Class 12 exam in previous year and have taken an improvement exam in admission year, can mention the year of the exam with a better score.

NEET Eligibility (State Quota)

Medical aspirants must fill their reservation criteria of NEET-UG while registering for NEET 2024 admissions. In every state, 85% of seats are reserved under State Quota candidates and NEET 2024 reservation criteria for them is decided by the concerned state authorities.

NEET Eligibility (All India Quota)

Minimum age of 17 years by admission or before December 31st of the joining year. No upper age limit for NEET-UG applicants. Must have individually passed Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English. Minimum aggregate of 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology.

MBBS Entrance Exam 2024

The MBBS admission process takes place in two stages. To get admission to the MBBS course in India, a student needs to appear for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). In fact, this is the only entrance test to get admission to the MBBS course and is accepted by both government and private institutions.
Candidates who meet the NEET cutoff will qualify to participate in the counselling process, which is conducted in two types. The national-level counselling for MBBS is conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for the 15 per cent All India Quota (AIQ) seats. The State Medical Admission Authorities conduct counselling for 85 per cent of State Quota seats.
